Antique Victorian 9ct yellow gold bar brooch featuring seed pearls with a purple amethyst faceted gemstone. The bar of the brooch is concave in shape creating a slight 'c' shape within the design. The pin secures with an open 'c' clasp, a typical clasp of the Victorian era. On the back of the brooch there are a number of faded hallmarks and a makers mark. The piece has been tested 9ct yellow gold.
Seed pearls in the Victorian era were associated with a number of symbols such as innocence, purity, humility and harmony. Amethyst is the birthstone of February.
